The depths of 'My Cooking'

COOKING – the definition as per Wikipedia is ‘the process of preparing food with heat’. For most of us this sounds as the most logical meaning and makes sense…

But isn’t it too bland a definition??

How can you possibly sum up one of the most gorgeous thing in just a few words with such deficit of taste in them??

Is it only the heat, the method and the presentation that matters?

May be I am sounding too defensive; coz cooking occupies a very special place in my life. For me COOKING has a much deeper meaning..My name may not go down history as one of the best chefs, neither am I a cook book author nor do I boast to have invented many recipes...But when I cook, I do as if it matters the world to me. Each time I cook, I do it with all my love.I cook for anyone and everyone with the same zeal.

For me the 'Kitchen' is not a mere space with racks and stacks, oven and microwave, burners and vessels……It’s a place where I find my peace….Ask anyone who knows me!!

I never cook coz I have nothing else to do…I never cook coz ‘I have to’..I cook coz I want to..That adds to the things I cook!! You can see my passion n love for cooking, only while I cook.

Starting from chopping till I go on to mixing,

from stirring to the occasional checking of the flavours turning in,

from serving till you eat it,

I will be the same enthusiast.

I cook to unwind. I cook to make someone smile after he/she eats my food. I cook not to kill anyone’s hunger but to make a completely satiated person want to grab a bite. I cook so that when he enters my house, the aromas should take him with a pleasant surprise. I cook to make an absolutely dull day end with perfect flavours. Cooking is one of the things that bring out the best in me…!!

I cook anytime…

• Even when I get up so early in the morning (which I normally never do)
• When am down with fever
• Times when I am feeling dull
• Though I am tired with hours of travel
• With lots of other things in my agenda and I am too busy

All with the same gusto!!

I love most songs of Michael Jackson, but 'Remember the time' is one which I wouldn't listen to while I am cooking…Not that I am no good at quick-cooking, but I love when I have time in hands, coz that’s what gives me the bliss of cooking.

In my life, I have never been what you call ‘patient’, not for exams, not while I drive on busy roads, never for meetings or anything...But with cooking, I become the most tolerant and you can bet that agitation is miles away from me. I cook with no worries or rush…When I cook it has to be just right, exactly the way I would have pictured it to be, the way I would have dreamt it to look n taste!! I can take no less that ‘perfection’, else I would never be pleased. And so, somehow cooking will lose its meaning for me n will never be the same for me again!!

Kitchen is the next best place for me in the house (now plz stop wondering about ‘the favourite place’…..).
